At Yamaha, we put everything we've learned over the last 100 years into everything we touch. With a completely redesigned keyboard with perfect response, the feeling of playing the YC88 is comparable to playing a real authentic organ. No wonder Yamaha keyboards get so many more players than other keyboards. A completely redesigned keyboard for the YC88 that is great to play with organ sounds, piano sounds and more.
The YC88 is designed for concert keyboard players. It features a new organ sound core with VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modeling) technology with physical drawbars, extensive real-time control options and authentic acoustic piano, electric piano and FM synth sounds.
SOUND
How do you reproduce the warm authentic sound of an organ in a compact stage piano? You build a Yamaha organ sound core from the ground up. Our patented VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modeling) technology recreates the circuit behavior of classic analog equalizers, compressors, phasers down to the level of individual transistors and resistors to capture all the details and subtleties that digital simulation cannot normally capture. Whether you play piano, electric piano, or other sounds, the YC88 will give you authentic keyboard sounds for any genre of music.
VCM ORGAN
Yamaha has put the sound of your favorite tonewheel organ into one powerful and compact stage piano. The YC88 modulates three variants of tonewheel organs - right out of the box, in a compact instrument great for travel with a character-rich vintage sound. Need more? Go more in-depth and adjust the click when you press a key, the percussion when you release a key, the speed of the rotary speaker effect and other parameters to create the custom organ sound you've been looking for.
CM ROTARY SPEAKER
The YC88 brings you the authentic sounds of classic rotary speakers without the maintenance. Choose from two carefully modeled rotary speaker profiles - clean and aggressive - and set the maximum and minimum rotation speeds for complete control over the effect.
VCM EFFECTS
Virtual Circuit Modeling (VCM) recreates the sound and behavior of classic vintage effects and high-end studio signal processors by modeling circuits to the level of the original analog elements.
FM ORGAN
In 1983, Yamaha introduced the iconic sounds of FM synthesis (frequency modulation) in its DX7 model. Now the YC88 brings FM synthesis to the organ for a new generation of players. Simply switch to FM organ and your drawbars will be controlled by 8 FM operators that send out a clear sound with massive bass. Add a rotary speaker effect or amp-simulating effects to fine-tune the character and subtle vibrations of your sound. Intuitive controls make it easy to discover new sounds. Or recreate classic transistor organ tones from warm to buzzing by selecting one of three popular modes in the FM Organ section.
DESIGN
The YC88 is not just designed to be played. It's made to be banged, poked, scratched, stuffed into a van, carried overhead, and adored by players and fans alike at and after a gig. In short, it's designed to endure whatever the company behind it can endure.
The nine organ stops on the YC88 have the stops and stops you expect from an organ. But our pulls are also pleasing to the eye. Clear stops with color-adjustable LED lights make it easy to see the differences between the simulated upper and lower configurations and to play in split keyboard mode. It's like having a virtual set of organ cues at your disposal, giving you more sounds, more flexibility, and more options than you ever thought possible with such a compact stage keyboard instrument.
The YC88 is made for long musical jams, not lengthy menu scrolling. The intuitive interface gives you quick and easy setup of dividers, layers, and sound shaping right from the control panel. Proving that compact doesn't have to mean complicated.
