The body of the V65VBK is made of alder wood. The bolted maple neck is glued to a fingerboard made of Lignum Rosa (laminated wood), a composite material similar in properties and appearance to rosewood, fitted with twenty-two Medium Jumbo frets. Two Wilkinson pickups in a soap-bar design give the guitar defined bass and punchy humbucker mids, while the bright highs of the single-coil pickups. Their sound can be shaped using the volume control, tone shield and three-position toggle switch. The strings are anchored by Wilkinson tuning machines and a vintage offset (Jazzmaster) vibrato with an extended tremolo lever.

The stylish design is accentuated by an imitation tortoiseshell pickguard and chrome hardware.
