Snare heads feature two plies of film. An outer ply of 5mil film and an inner ply of 7.5mil film, in combination with a 2mil overtone control ring on the underside that "floats" with the head, eliminating excessive overtones and controlling sustain. Designed, engineered and manufactured in the USA, Evans Genera HD Dry coated snare drum heads are made using two plies of film, a 5mil outer ply and a 7.5mil inner ply, that yields an aggressive rimshot and balanced response. Small precision-drilled vent holes around the edge of the drum head that eliminate stray harmonics, control sustain and tighten the sound, while a 2mil overtone control ring on the underside "floats" with the head, eliminating excessive overtones and further controlling sustain. HDD snare heads have a Level 360 collar allowing the head to seat itself properly, making it easier to tune and providing a wider tonal range.
