Today’s Ludwig Jazz Fest snare captures all the magic and beauty of the original, from the 8-lug hoops and baseball bat damper lever right down to the whitewashed Reso-Coat shell interior. The classic Ludwig sound is back in full effect in the Jazz Fest’s 3-ply Legacy Mahogany shell, exhibiting sought-after warmth and a wide-open tone that’s straight out of the 1950s and ’60s. Vintage ’64 snare beds, a smooth-action P88 throw off, and a premium retro shell wrap complete the package. 

3-ply Legacy Mahogany shell
Ludwig’s full-bodied mahogany shells have been inspiring players since the 1920s. The Jazz Fest snare drum resurrects the classic Ludwig recipe in its Legacy Mahogany shell — built from plies of mahogany and poplar and reinforced with maple re-rings to evoke shades of warmth and roundness you’d be hard-pressed to find in modern shells. The Jazz Fest’s whitewashed interior looks just as if you’d picked this snare up in the late 1950s. 

Baseball bat damper lever
Just like the original, today’s Jazz Fest snare features an internal damper to dial back sustain for added focus and dryness. Three positions allow drummers to fine-tune the level of damping to suit just about any application.
