Each of DW’s grain orientation types — VLT, HVLT, VLX, and X — has a profound effect on a shell’s fundamental pitch. Fortunately, DW’s Specialized Shell Configuration (SSC) simplifies things for the customer. SSC just means that DW selects the best type of shell construction for each drum in the DW Collector’s shell pack. Sweetwater drummers were impressed by the impact this had on overall balance. Toms sound harmonious across the kit, with plenty of bite and a pure, even tone. And the 22" kick drum has the sort of depth and openness that more closely resembles a 24" in traditional drum sizes — a definite win for rock drummers.
