The TASCAM VS-R265 is a 4K/UHD AV-over-IP streaming encoder and decoder that simultaneously records, encodes, streams, and decodes 3840 x 2160 4K video streams using High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), delivering H.264 video at half the bit rate. Powered by PoE+, the half-rackspace VS-R265 fulfills the need for a standalone encoder/decoder for today’s popular 4K live streaming platforms. It’s the perfect for live streaming to content delivery networks (CDNs) such as YouTube, Wowza, Ustream, AWS Elemental MediaLive, and CloudFront.

Professional audio integration with streaming video
With the VS-R265, audio can be embedded from analog sources and de-embedded to drive networked audio playback for installed speakers, or alternately, digital audio sourced from the unit’s HDMI I/O can be used. The integrated installed output level configuration function and reference level switching function (up to +20dBu) allows reliable, flexible system structuring when streaming video.

Simultaneous, protocol-compliant recording and archiving
The VS-R265 live streaming encoder is compatible with popular standard streaming protocols, including HLS, RTMP, RTP/RTSP, Multicast, and Unicast; all featuring the RESTful application programming interface for integration into control systems in commercial AV installations. For instant archiving, the VS-R265 can record directly to connected USB sticks or SD cards via a front panel loading slot. Recorded files can also be automatically uploaded to an FTP server for editing, creating backups, or repurposing to the Web.

Easy remote management
The macOS/Windows TASCAM Discovery app and Web GUI allow easy remote management of multiple VS-R unit systems. The Discovery lets you connect multiple VS-R units to your network and manage them from a user-friendly Web browser-based GUI. All configuration settings are saved within the VS-R devices, so that in normal operation no computer is needed for streaming or recording.

No AC adapter required for commercial AV Installations
TASCAM equipped the VS-R265 with PoE+ functionality, which eliminates the need for AC adapters in AV installations. Where external AC power is required, the optional TASCAM PS-P1220E AC power supply is available separately.
