This is one gloriously articulate EL34-driven head that oozes vintage class and sound, showcasing all the iconic tone and cosmetics that make Marshall the worldly-appreciated amp manufacturer it is. With the Marshall 1987XL, you can mix the two channels together by connecting a short, screened patch lead between the second input of channel one and the first input of channel two. If you then plug your guitar into the first input of channel one, you can mix the different tonal characters of each channel for greater flexibility!

Sharing the same "Plexi" front and rear panel features as the 1959SLP, do not be fooled that it's a perfect replica of it. Showcasing a wealth of its own unique characteristics, you'll be spoilt by its voicing and playability. Delivering a more aggressive sound than the ’60s Plexis, the 1987X is much more of the ’72 period, with a heady and sweet tone. The main characteristic that these amps share is their simplicity of operation and superb natural valve tone. Achieving the beautifully organic and vibrant overdrive which is their trademark, and can only be done in one way - crank 'em up! The result is pure, majestic tone uncluttered by unnecessary circuitry. This produces a big, round, warm, sustain, full of classic character. With chord work you get a bark and percussive attack with a natural sounding breakup, which allows each note to ring out in a glorious musical crunch.
