The Gibson SG Standard features a beautiful nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Nitro finishes (the standard in the past) are significantly thinner than today's polyurethane finishes, allowing the guitar to "breathe." Nitro finishes not only look incredible vintage, but they also enhance the instrument's tonal qualities. The Gibson SG Standard looks (and feels) like a lovingly cared-for classic, which will only get better with time.
