AD-10, the new flagship acoustic preamp pedal from Boss, allows you to get great quality effects and an authentic acoustic sound when you plug in your electro-acoustic.
Any gigging acoustic guitarist will know that when you plug your electro-acoustic guitar in, your sound can fall flat.
Just going straight from your guitar’s pickup means you lose the all the body and presence of the original acoustic sound you enjoy when playing unplugged.
With the Boss AD-10 Acoustic Preamp you add life back to your guitar, recreating that authentic acoustic sound. A wide range of features, effects and comprehensive controls allow you to really sculpt your sound so when you play live you can be heard exactly how you want to be.
There are two inputs on the Boss AD-10, which is great if you want to easily switch between two guitars during your set, play with a friend or blend two sources together such as a piezo and magnetic pickup or onboard mic modelling.
Each channel has independent sensitivity controls and an input selection button allows you to use Channel 1, Channel 2 or both channels together at the same time.
You can really sculpt your electro-acoustic sound using the onboard four-band EQ which features knobs to adjust the bass, mid, treble and presence.
You’ll also benefit from a low-cut frequency switch on the bass band and switchable frequency sweeps on the mid-ranges so you can further tailor your tone.
A brightly lit numerical display screen gives you instant visual feedback on all adjustable parameters so it’s really easy to make those precise alterations and get everything just to your liking.
Using the Acoustic Resonance control, you can add the life back to your guitar sound. Three different presets allow you to quickly dial in the sound you require which you can then adjust with the knob, reviving your acoustic sound so you can get the beautiful sound you know and love from your unplugged performances and practice sessions.
Another common problem for electro-acoustic guitar performances is feedback and so the Boss AD-10 acoustic preamp features a newly developed anti-feedback feature to eliminate unwanted feedback-causing frequencies on the fly. The feedback reduction also manages the total sound quality of the circuitry to ensure you get a great sound at all times.
A built-in compressor, using the same MDP circuitry as found in the Boss CP-1X compressor pedal, has both soft and hard settings and gives you a great compression effect on your sound without muffling or crushing the nuances of your playing
Classic effects favoured by acoustic guitars; delay and chorus have been built in to the AD-10 with three different types to choose from which have all been specifically tuned for use with acoustic guitar.
You will also find three Ambience types allowing you to find the perfect reverb which has also been specially tuned to acoustic guitar allowing it to complement rather than overwhelm your sound.
The built-in looper gives you 80 seconds of recording time to play around with and you can also use it to overdub multiple recordings to really layer up your sound for a great, unique performance.
In addition to the looper and built-in tuner, three footswitches allow you to control the Delay effect and a Boost, which is great for adding in that little extra when it comes time for a solo or other crucial moment in a song.
You can also use the footswitches to cycle through 10 user programmable patches so you can get your own custom sounds quickly and easily while you carry on playing your guitar.
A ground switch can be found on the rear of the unit, allowing you to eliminate earth hum which can occur due to the venue’s electronics.
Balanced XLR and quarter inch jack outputs are present with separate left and right channels so you can handle your stereo sound however you like. You will also find FX send and return, allowing you to connect external pedals into the loop.
A USB output can be found on the rear of the unit allowing to connect the Boss AD-10 to your computer; perfect for recording your electro-acoustic guitar in stereo.
You will also find a TRS control input which allows you to connect up to two expression pedals or footswitches for further control over the onboard effects and parameters when playing live.
As with all Boss pedals, the AD-10 Acoustic Preamp has a very sturdy chassis which is perfect for touring as it’ll be able to withstand all the rigours of the road.
Despite the hefty number of features and power within the AD-10, you’ll find it is relatively compact so it’s easy for picking up and taking along with you to gigs.
It comes packaged with a DC power supply or alternatively it can be powered by six AA batteries.
Give your electro-acoustic its soul back and be heard the way you want to be heard, order the Boss AD-10 Acoustic Preamp.
