Bocote is best known for its majestic wood grain patterns in yellow, orange and dark brown colors with distinct black lines, but it is also known for its warm and deep sound much like rosewood. The rest of the Gold-A6 Bocote remains the same with outstanding features like the ATV (Aged-to-Vintage) torrefied top, sonically enhanced UV finish, and Fishman® Flex Blend system, and with the introduction of the new Bocote option, our most popular Gold Series guitar is now more enticing than ever.

Aged to Vintage Top

A vintage instrument is the holy grail of acoustic guitar tone. The wood on the top cures and opens up more over time. This unleashes a tonal quality that is missing in new instruments – until now. Using a special process we call ATV (Aged To Vintage), we treat the solid sitka spruce top to give it that big and open tone of a decades-old, highly-sought-after acoustic. This torrefaction process delivers that amazing tone to you right out of the box.

Solid Sitka Spruce Top with Solid Bocote Back & Sides

Best known for its majestic wood grain patterns, the exotic Bocote comes from the same family as Ziricote and is found in the similar region (Central America to Northern Amazon). Tonally speaking, Bocote is more similar to rosewood and has warm, deep bass, broad spectrum of mids, and plenty of good volume with long sustain. Bocote is a perfect match for the premium grade solid Sitka spruce top found in our Gold Series, with a brilliant and clear high-end, warm and rich midrange, and a deep but tight low-end for a beautifully balanced combination of tones.

The mahogany neck is glued to a macassar ebony fingerboard with twenty hand-rolled frets, which are easy to navigate thanks to positional dots and decorative inlay on the twelfth fret. The stability of the neck and the overall construction of the instrument is enhanced by the walnut neck bracing and the DoubleLock connection to the body, which together with a thin layer of UV lacquer promotes the natural acoustic resonance of the wood.

The fit of the strings in the ebony fingerboard and their routing through the saddle and the right bone fret ensures optimal vibration transmission to the body of the instrument and good sustain. Stability of tuning is ensured by Deluxe Vintage Gold mechanics in gold finish. The quality of the workmanship is underlined by traditional decorative elements in the form of ornate mother-of-pearl rosettes (Abalone), black body binding, ebony pegs for the fingerboard and pickguard made of imitation tortoiseshell.

The Fishman Flex M Blend electronics take advantage of a combination of under-coil piezo pickup and microphone to faithfully capture the acoustic sound. Controls in the guitar's headstock adjust the mic/piezo pickup ratio, volume, EQ, and activate phase and built-in tuner functions. The guitar comes in a high-quality case (Cort Deluxe Soft-Side Case) that combines the best features of cases with the practicality of padded gig-bags.
