Evans have been innovating in the drum world for over 60 years and were the first company to offer synthetic (non animal skin) heads to drummers. Evans EC2 series heads are a double ply head with two plies of 7mil film. They are optimised for attack, tone, length of sustain and ease of tuning no matter the size of the head. The Sound Shaping Technology (SST™) Edge Control ring on the underside of the head delivers an extremely well balanced and pre-EQ’d sound across the full kit by varying the size of the ring for each different head size. Giving a similar but more subtle effect than an E Ring. The Evans EC2 Clear Drumhead with SST is a two-ply head with 7mil each, with Sound Shaping Technology mounted underneath. By controlling edge vibration (instead of eliminating it), the ring isolates and damps higher overtones, enhancing low-end and attack, and enabling a broader tuning range with the EC2 Clear Drumhead with SST. Two-Ply Design Delivers Controlled Resonance
Two plies of 7-mil film give the EC2 SST Clear Batter drum head 13" durability and controlled vibration. The film dampens excess overtones while allowing fundamental tone to ring through. Attached to the underside, an Edge Control ring further refines the drum head's voice by absorbing frequencies that could muddy the overall sound.
