Instead of coating the string after the winding process is finished, D’Addario coats the wrap wire before it’s wound onto the hexagonal NY Steel core. The resulting string feels uncoated but retains the long-lasting life of a coated one. XT strings also offer “fusion twist” plain strings that resist detuning and breaking. With a set of XT 80/20 bronze strings, you’re acoustic guitar will sound its best for a longer time span.
